Why NOT?

By Field Agent, Joseph R. Noa, PGK, PFN, FICF

The Knights of Columbus as the world’s largest Catholic Family Fraternal Services Organization is composed of more than 1.7 million members in more than 12,000 councils in thirteen countries.  It is through the strength of unity, fraternity and patriotism that we are able to accomplish the many charitable contributions that we provide worldwide.  There are two levels of membership in the Knights of Columbus:  Associate and Insurance.

The fundamental method of accomplishing the goals of the Knights of Columbus is made possible through each member’s support of the Knights of Columbus insurance program.  As a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Field Agent, I am amazed at the fact that there are more than one million members of the Knights of Columbus who are still Associate members and do not participate in our insurance program.  Why Not?

The order makes it very easy for an Associate member of the Knights of Columbus to become an Insurance member, yet only 1/3 of the members have done so.  My question to those who are Associate members of the Knights of Columbus is:  Why do you not consider the Knights of Columbus to satisfy your family’s insurance needs?  We all have some form of insurance needs to provide for our family’s well-being after we are gone.  It is the love that we have for our families that propels us to take out Life Insurance to provide for their support when we are gone.

In today’s society there are many fine Insurance Companies where you can go to satisfy your family’s Life Insurance needs.  Yet, I would argue that there is none better than the Knights of Columbus.  With more than $60 billion of Insurance in force, assets of $12 billion and holding the highest ratings from Standard & Poor’s (AAA)  and AM Best (A++) as well as membership in IMSA (ethical standards), the Knights of Columbus ranks in the top 2% of insurance companies in North America.  There are no more than four companies (commercial or otherwise) that can claim these credentials.  Our products are among the finest that can be offered by any insurance company and they were created specifically for the benefit of our members and their families, which was the vision of our founder, Fr. Michael J. McGivney.  It is through the proceeds of our Life Insurance program that the Knights of Columbus is able to do all the good that it does for our Society, our Order and our Church.  It is your organization.

With that said, I still ask the question of our Associate members.  Why do you not consider the Knights of Columbus to satisfy your family’s life insurance needs?  As Field Agents, all we ask is that you invite your Field Agent, your brother Knight, to your home and find out about the greatest fraternal benefit available to you and your family:  Knights of Columbus Insurance.  The rest is up to you.
